Students who wish to develop their singing and dancing skills while exploring vocal music not only through singing but also through arranging, beatboxing and leadership roles.
Girls with positive, hard-working and friendly attitudes!
There is no number cap on the group and we welcome all voice parts to audition.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FOR AUDITIONS
Sign up for a slot on Acaspot (we'll link it when it's ready)
Arrive 10-15 minutes before your assigned time at the audition location
Sing any contemporary (NOT classical) song (30 seconds that showcases your talent!)
Sing the Star-Spangled Banner (words are provided)
Be led through some scales to determine your range
Sight reading (don't worry if you can't sight read, we just want you to try)
Tonal memory (singing given note patterns back to us)
If you can beatbox, prepare to drop a beat!
You will be notified both on the website and by email if you have been invited to callbacks.
Callbacks will involve learning selections of songs and learning and performing choreography.
LIKE ANY A CAPPELLA GROUP, DOTs IS A TIME COMMITMENT The DOTs typically rehearse around 5 hours a week in the form of two rehearsals, but rehearsal time is increased in preparation for concerts and competitions when it is felt it is needed. As a member, attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, and notice must be given no less than a week in advance in the case of a non-emergency absence. We do not want to discourage you from auditioning but we DO want you to consider your schedule to ensure you have the time to commit to being in this group. If you do this, we promise you will be able to fully partake in an extraordinary musical and personal experience that you will remember well beyond your college years.
