DOTs (also known as The Daughters of Triton--yes, the UCSD mascot is a Triton) was started in Fall of 2000 by a few ambitious young ladies. In order to be different from the other a cappella group on campus, they decided to form an all-female group. During the first year of existence, the DOTs had two girls audition, practiced in a dorm room and performed only once. The next year, however, twenty girls tried out for the group, which grew and improved rapidly. They started writing and performing more original arrangements, had more gigs, and gained more popularity in the UCSD community.

Now in our ninth year, the DOTs have performed at many UCSD functions and community events, traveled to UCLA, and worked with the Preuss School (a junior high on the UCSD campus). 2003 saw the first DOTs-organized concert, Acappellooza, where we co-headlined with the TriTones and hosted three other groups. In 2005 we released our first CD, Ready or Not.

The DOTs sing mostly contemporary pop songs, which we also try to mix up with some country and jazz. We are changing and improving at an exponential rate and look forward not only to learning more about the world of a cappella, but also becoming a larger part of it.
